TechSavvy Seniors
Empowering Black Newcomer Seniors and Single Mothers with Technology and Support
This project, funded in part by York University, will provide low-income newcomer seniors and single mothers and their children from the black community with access to technology and Wi-Fi within their place of residence. The project will teach participants to acquire information, resources, and social supports that lead to greater self-reliance and improved mental well-being as they connect with family and community through our online ‘breaking social isolation’ program and monthly virtual group therapy sessions with Black psychologists whose core focus is mental well-being for racialized folk. From these group sessions, individuals can arrange personal one-on-one counselling sessions.
